Non-Riding Equine-Assisted Mental Health and Wellness Services
Project Horse provides custom-tailored, non-riding, equine-assisted mental health services and non-riding equine-assisted learning experiences.
Through a unique and engaging non-riding approach, horses and clients work together as partners. Since 2008, we have supported the emotional needs of thousands of children, teens, adults, groups, and families.
Project Horse’s highly experienced team of two and four-legged professionals specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma healing, and recovery. As a trauma-informed and trauma-sensitive therapy and wellness provider, Project Horse is a local leader in healing and recovery. We help survivors to move forward with hope.
The calming presence of horses, coupled with their keen ability to sense and respond to human emotion and intention, provides an ideal environment for self-discovery, healing, and personal growth. This unique non-riding approach to therapy and wellness puts clients and horses on equal footing. Clients don’t have to depend on their ability to verbally articulate their emotions to find healing and growth. This is especially beneficial for trauma survivors who need to minimize reliving past experiences. Our goal is to help the clients we serve move through their life experiences toward healing as they learn to manage symptoms and live their best life.
This model is an experiential and applied modality for counseling and social-emotional learning. It is most effective for individuals able to self-reflect and internalize the applied concepts of their experiences and interactions with our team.
Our unique NON-RIDING approach means NO prior horse experience is necessary.

Our mission is to improve the mental health and wellness of individuals by connecting them in unique partnerships with therapy horses.
We are NOT an equine rescue facility. However, much of our herd is comprised of horses who were rescued from various situations such as neglect, starvation, abandonment, or even physical abuse. At Project Horse, we connect individuals in need of hope and healing with our rehabilitated rescue horses, creating a unique community of mutual healing and benefit.
Project Horse is dedicated to improving the quality of life for both horses and humans.

Led by teams of culturally competent facilitators, this initiative provides access to Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy and Equine-Assisted Learning and wellness services designed specifically to address the lived experiences related to military service or work as a first responder.

We accept referrals from licensed professionals who want to refer clients to Project Horse for adjunct services. Clinicians can refer clients directly for individual counseling or access to our REACH (Rapidly Engaging Adolescents in Counseling with Horses) suicide prevention initiative.
